Despite the difficult times, life in our country does not stop: Ukrainians continue to marry and create new families, albeit without loud celebrations and lavish ceremonies. After such a test of the endurance of feelings, even those who were not in a hurry to take such an important step began to think about marriage. But how is the registration of marriages in Ukraine during martial law? In this article Chanfashion will provide instructions on how to marry during wartime.

How to marry a civilian during the war?

If you are outside the zone of active hostilities, the procedure is quite simple. Choose the most convenient department of the RAGS for you, specify their work schedule and submit an application for marriage registration in person. Do not forget to take with you the original passports of citizens of Ukraine and a document on the dissolution of a previous marriage, if one of you was already married. Also, a receipt for payment of the state duty for marriage registration is required to submit an application.

In addition, you can submit an application on the website of the Ministry of Justice. At the link you will find detailed instructions on how submit an application for marriage registration online.

Currently, you can officially become husband and wife even faster than before.

During martial law, every adult citizen of Ukraine has the opportunity to register a marriage simply on the day of filing the application. This acceleration of the procedure (which in calm times takes at least a month) is possible thanks to part 2 of Article 32 of the Family Code of Ukraine.

What about the military?

The state made sure that our defenders were able to legitimize their relationships, even while in the war zone. Thanks to this, military personnel can register a marriage without personal presence. This simplification can be used by military personnel from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine, the Foreign Intelligence Service, the State Security Department, border guards, and national guardsmen.

Such a ceremony takes place with the help of video communication without the mandatory presence of one or both persons from the future spouse.

In order to exercise the right to remote marriage registration, a military person must submit a corresponding application to his commander, who will certify the authenticity of the document.

We would like to remind you that in wartime, marriage ceremonies can be performed not only by civil registry office employees, but also by police representatives, medical workers, and military personnel. In this case, you need to submit the act of marriage registration to any civil registry office so that the updated data is entered into the state register and the marriage becomes fully valid. After this procedure, the newlyweds will be able to get their marriage certificates.
